Q & A

So there's about a hundred of those quizzes around that ask you all kinds of strange things about yourself for the amusement (slight) and education (slighter) of your friends or all the people you choose to spam with it.

I just added a few of them up into one big session. These are gathered from emails and blogs from here to forever. There's one given explicit credit because we know she's the one who created it. IF you happen to be responsible for any of these and can verify you are the first one ever to start sending it around...

...shame on you.

What is your greatest extravagance?
Perfume and/or bath & body things. Addict. Completely.

If there is a heaven, what do you want to hear God say when you arrive?
Nice work.

What is your motto?
Never let them see you sweat? No, that's not it. Check your ego at the door? Nope. Smile, everyone will wonder what you're getting away with. OK, I'll stick with that one for now.

If you were a super-hero, which one would you be?
Superman, so I could sleep with Lex.

Did you ever have an imaginary friend?
No, never. Just a lot of books.

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A teacher. Then I had kids and decided there was no way I could ever do this at home and at work and not lose my mind in the process.

What do you like about yourself?
That my first instinct is usually to see if I can help.

What is your favourite word?
Love. Moved to this listing from the "Words That Make Me Snarl" list.

On your last birthday, what did you wish for?
That Katie & Kass would like me after they met me for real.

What are your phobias?
Bugs, Spiders, Snakes, Heights, Tight Enclosed Places and the dark when I'm not somewhere familiar.

Name 3 cds that you've bought in the last year:
Kane, Mississippi John Hurt Complete Studio Recordings, The Rolling Stone Women In Rock Collection

What would you change about the way you look?
My weight.

What movie could you watch over and over again and not get sick of?
Empire Records. Princess Bride. Practical Magic (shut UP!) Broken Hearts Cub. Love Song (brain off, eyes open)

If you met yourself as you were 5 years ago, would the two of you get along?
Well I would have felt very sorry for me and tried to be friends. I would most likely have gotten sick of me crying and said, "Leave the son of a bitch!" very often and with great conviction. And I would warn me to stay away from men named Jason.

A Playtime Survey, For Us Kids Disguised As Adults from Mad Poetess's blog.

1. What was your favourite toy, as a child? (Pick an age. Or ages.)
When I was about 7 I wanted an EasyBake Oven. I pined. I swooned. I ached for this thing so that I too could cook mini cakes on a lightbulb.

2. What's your favorite toy now? (Define 'toy' any way you'd like.)
Sam. Hey can I count her as my toy? She's fun. Lots. :)

3. What toy did you always want, as a child, but never got?
I must have been seriously traumatized and blocked out the unfuliflled need. I can't think of a thing.

4. Is it still available now? If so, why the hell haven't you bought it?
See above.

5. What toy do you most want *now*, that you can't really afford? (Hey, maybe your friends will chip in and buy you one...)
A DVD player. And a seriously huge ocllection of DVD's.

6. What toy do you regret ever having taken out of the package/played with/let your dog chew on, because man, if you still had it in pristine condition, you'd be raking in the bucks on E-Bay?
When I was 7, The Year of the Oven, my uncle and his girlfriend bought me a huge -- I'm talking 5 feet tall - Raggedy Ann doll. Knickerbocker, I swear to you. It must have cost unbelievable amounts of money back then. Today I refuse to even look and see what it would go for. I also ruined countless Madam Alexander babies by losing their clothes, coloring on their bodies and brushing all their hair until it fell out. Oh and I cut the eyelashes off of Pussycat because I wanted to see if they would grow back.

7. What toy are you ashamed to admit having played with -- and liked -- as a child?
I was your basic middle of the road kid. I had two Barbies and one Barbie convertible. I was never really into them all that much. Damn, I was a boring kid.

8. What toy (modern or childhood) would you never buy for a child, or want bought for yours?
No Barbies. No guns. No drum kits. No super stretchie things that bulge out of the eyes when you smash them. Who thinks of this crap?

9. What toy are (or were) you most neurotic about protecting? ("Do what I say, or Mr. Fett here gets it...")
My computer. Children have been threatened with loss of limb for downlaoding anything onto it or using it without me coming in to get them started or shut it down.

10. Do you still have any of your childhood toys? What's your best beloved?
Some of the Madam Alexander dolls are put away, the ones who survived that is. There was hope I'd have little girls to pass them on to. It never happened. Maybe grandchildren.... And since I have no idea where they are stored, I'd say they are rather low on the "beloved" scale.
